This was a side project i had going on for awhile: a complete starter PlatformIO project for the ESP32-2432S028 display board, aka Cheap Yellow Display. Also a few useful hardware upgrades.

Recycling time: small charger+protection board for the vape Li-Po batteries. Works also as protection board if charger is not needed.

Most of the available ESP32 + TFT display boards, including the one known as Cheap Yellow Display suffer from bad audio design. It can be quite easily improved. Here is how to do it, short, under 3min video, no talk, distilled info:

CH32V003/INA228 power meter: new font rendering, 2bit antialiased font displayed using single character size DMA buffer. Removed all non used font glyphs = the table uses a little over 1k of Flash. Result is much better text visibility on the tiny display.

Firmware not even close to be finished, but the front panels arrived! Isolated USB MIDI to CV converter / Expression pedal emulator.

I also started using the 'throw out' vape batteries for various projects.
