I am looking for a post doc to work on microbial methanogenesis in the subsurface (note: for an application, not a position yet! deadline quite urgent). Please contact me at [email protected] and please spread the word! :)

Happy to share this recent paper on Late Cretaceous and Early Paleogene Fluid Circulation and Microbial Activity in Deep Fracture Networks of the Precambrian Basement of Western Greenland with Nick Roberts and many more agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…

I have seen this news fly around the past weeks, based on a nice study by Yohey Suzuki. The news reports get it all wrong; These are not 2 billion year old microbes. They are in a vein, but the vein is not dated, so no one knows at all when life got there. popularmechanics.com/science/enviro…

In South Africa, at Doornkop mine, level -2040 m, studying Archean gold horizons, and shatter cones of Vreedfort impact structure etc. sampling and field work w/ Axel Hofmann, Manuel Reinhardt et al. continues coming days. Vetenskapsrådet funded project deep life in deep time

New paper🚨. Here, Linnéuniversitetet Linnaeus University PhD student Femke van Dam et al report findings of methanogens deep within the Siljan meteorite impact structure. With astrobiology implications. Incl Riikka Kietäväinen link.springer.com/article/10.100…

I am happy to welcome Dr Eric Runge as new post doc in my group at Linnéuniversitetet Linnaeus University . Eric just finished his PhD at Universities of Tübingen/Göttingen and has focused on microbial biosignatures in sulfide systems on the (early) Earth. Welcome!
