UK inflation rate stays at 6.7% & alcohol prices⬆️10.6% in 12 months – over twice GOV.UK’s 5% target - this is further proof that duty rises fuel inflation.

Totally untrue-you have put further pressure on Hospitality&Wine businesses in the uk.Whatever beer reduction you think there will be for consumers,it’s dwarfed by a massive 20% increase in duty on most wine. Further fueling inflation whilst consulting no one in the industry 🤦🏻‍♂️

The government keep quoting that they have been “advised by” and “consulted with businesses in our sector” regarding this duty review and implementation.
Does anyone actually know anyone who has been consulted re this in the wine industry in the UK?

Totally agree to scrap this but the other major issue being that the timing of this couldn’t be worse. For a lot of the hospitality sector, summer is their busiest season! They are already short of staff and now need to use precious time updating prices & wine lists! 🤦🏻‍♂️

The timing & sense regarding this is beyond belief following the interest rate rise..The new alcohol duty arrives in August & willl add further pressure to a weakened hospitality sector & ramp up inflation.Have the sense to stop this!
