I have spent the last few days trying to work out what this beautiful and rare amazon parrot smells like. It’s a good smell, quite distinctive, and this puzzle has been driving me up the wall. I worked it out just now. A chip shop. He smells of a Friday night chippie.

Toys I have bought the new parrot: complex cardboard towers, bright assemblages of blocks, woven balls filled with bright ribbons of crimped paper. Toys the parrot wants to play with: credit cards, cigarette lighters, knives, my tax documents.
