I joined EIGE EU Fundamental Rights ➡️ #HumanRights & EU_Eurostat’s event on the release of new data on gender-based violence. This research helps us make informed policies and focus attention where needed. Together, we can build a safer Europe for women & girls #OrangeTheWorld #UnionOfEquality

During a debate at European Parliament on the volatile situation in Mozambique, I informed MEPs that the EU remains committed to peace, protection of human rights, and democracy, standing with the Mozambican people for a secure and prosperous future.

At European Parliament, I addressed the persistent gender pay gap of 12.7%: Women in the EU must work an average of 46 extra days to match men’s pay. We tackle it through the adoption and follow up of the Pay transparency & #WLB directives, and the #CareStrategy. #UnionOfEquality

At the European Parliament I stressed that detention conditions in the EU must respect fundamental rights. The Commission is monitoring compliance with its 2022 recommendation and will report in 2025 to ensure transparency and improve cooperation.

At the European Parliament, I highlighted the EU's unwavering commitment to LGBTIQ equality & human rights. While acknowledging some progress, I expressed concern at the rising hate speech & discrimination, and hence the need to continue to be vigilant. #UnionOfEquality

At the European Parliament I addressed the dramatic decline in people’s rights and freedoms in #HongKong. The EU remains committed to defending democracy, rule of law, and the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ principle, respecting adherence to international commitments.

At the European Parliament, I reaffirmed the EU’s unwavering support for Iranian women and girls. We stand by the Woman, Life, Freedom movement and call on Iran to end the systemic discrimination and violence in public and private life. #WorldOfEquality

At the European Parliament, I reiterated the EU’s commitment to human rights in Cambodia. The partial withdrawal of EBA trade preferences reflects this stance. We call on Cambodia to address shrinking civic space and labour rights violations.

At the European Parliament, I highlighted the EU’s goal of creating a ‘Tobacco-Free Generation’ by 2040. We are working to better protect people in the EU from second-hand smoke and aerosols – especially children and young people.

With European Parliament, we discussed how criminal gangs exploit children by recruiting them for violent crimes or drug trafficking. Children end up being both victims & perpetrators. Prevention, protection, and collaboration between key entities are key for children’s safety.
