As a member of CBC’s Children’s Scrutiny Committee I raised several issues at today’s 5 hour meeting such as online schooling and SEND services but the implications for Leighton Buzzard from Phase 1 schools reconfiguration was not lost on me. Comments on Phase 2 will be important

Efforts continue to get swimming pools reopened and I’m happy to have supported the petition, which seems to be bearing fruit. I’m anticipating a helpful announcement from Boris any day! #OpenOurPools

All the villages around Leighton Buzzard will still have an inadequate bus service after Covid, so at today’s scrutiny meeting I argued again for new bus routes for the residents of Heath & Reach, Hockliffe, Stanbridge, Tilsworth, Eggington, Tebworth & Wingfield in time for 2021.

The A5 southbound into Hockliffe has a new queuing sign, installed by Highways England but it was completely hidden by trees! Residents alerted me Monday and I immediately contacted HE. I visited the site yesterday and to give them credit they did fix it quickly.

Cllrs Matthew Green, @CampaignTim and Paul Swaddle have been visiting the owners of restaurants, pubs and bars to thank them for providing a safe service. We're continuing to work with venues to provide outdoor areas where people can enjoy what Westminster has to offer.

I spoke in support of Fulbrook Middle’s proposal to become a secondary this morning and CBC has agreed. Several families in Heath & Reach send their children there and parents overwhelmingly support. May influence what the rest of the ‘Leighton-Linslade cluster’ of schools does.

Closure of main road into Heath & Reach starts today until 6pm. Tue-Fri they’ll keep open with traffic lights. 10-14 Aug it’ll be resurfaced. 17 Aug they widen pavement opposite Shenley Hill. I’ve got CBC to extend pavement widening into H&R village & I’ve been promised it 2021

Over £300 raised . Well done Co-op Heath and Reach

Met with Bedfordshire Police today and repeated our need for rapid response to rural crime and engagement with certain communities. Impressed with Chief Superintendent and Chief Inspector I met and believe their commitment will make a difference as will the extra 36 officers.

Today 4,700 solar panels were given permission to be built on Leighton Buzzard green belt. The ‘very special circumstance’ is UK needs more renewables. It’ll be restored to farm land in 35 years. Combined with 2 turbines & electric charging station this location just makes sense

I was one of the 32 Councillors and Officers at this afternoon’s extraordinary Executive to debate and approve the new Sustainability Plan for 2020-30. This high level of interest was a sign of its importance and of CBC’s commitment to hit its carbon neutral target by 2030.

Fantastic news for local kids as Leighton United FC’s bid for £25,000 of my ward Community Asset Grant has been successful. The club is located between Stanbridge and Tilsworth, both of which I represent in Council but attracts kids from all across Leighton Buzzard and beyond.

The last day of January, a cold grey afternoon at Crosby beach. The pale white disc of a watery winter sun adds a silvery sparkle to pools of water left by the outgoing tide as it lowers into the approaching cloud mass over the snow covered hills of North Wales. IronMenCrosby 🌤

Yesterday evening squalls of rain chased across Liverpool Bay, hiding the sun from viewers on Crosby beach. A sudden parting of the clouds and bright, golden orange light flooded the scene for an instant but was quickly extinguished again by the racing clouds. IronMenCrosby 🌤
