Our review article on sequencing & characterising short tandem repeats (STRs) is out in Nature Reviews Genetics! We delve into short read & long read STR genotyping tools and applications in rare disease & population genetics🧬 go.nature.com/48pWZix Genomic Technologies Group Dr Harriet Dashnow Daniel MacArthur
New review on the discovery and impact of an understudied class of genetic variation, short tandem repeats, by PhD student Hope Tanudisastro in collaboration with Dr Harriet Dashnow and Ira Deveson.
if you want my dream job, you can apply today to be a post-doc with Dr Harriet Dashnow on cu.taleo.net/careersection/…!
Looking to do a computational postdoc with a fabulous new PI near beautiful mountains? Check out this opportunity in Dr Harriet Dashnow’s lab!
Today is bittersweet. Dr Harriet Dashnow left to start her new lab CU Department of Biomedical Informatics (DBMI). Harriet was a force of good and rigor in our lab and department, and she will be sorely missed. We sent her on her way after smashing a "STRex" pinata for good luck. Go kick ass, Harriet!
STRchive! First preprint from Laurel Hiatt (they|he), a talented MD/PhD student in our lab. A fun collaboration with Dr Harriet Dashnow.

Really excited to be part of the effort to better characterize genetic variation using a large Utah family (CEPH-1463), amazing collaboration from EichlerLab University of Utah Health and PacBio to name a few. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
I'm incredibly proud of Laurel Hiatt (they|he) and all they have accomplished and continue to strive for. It has been an absolute pleasure mentoring you these past years. Just published! Read more about Laurel's journey so far here: liebertpub.com/doi/10.1089/au… osf.io/preprints/edar… #AuDHD
Huge congratulations, Aaron Quinlan! I'm so excited to see where you lead the department next.
A de novo TR mutation occurs in a person's DNA sequence and has not been seen in previous generations. These mutations can impact gene function. Learn more about a tool created by Dr Harriet Dashnow and team that is transforming the detection of the mutations ▶️ bit.ly/4ew1BYf
Explore seeing yourself in a mentor who sees you with Dr Harriet Dashnow, PhD, and her mentee Laurel Hiatt (they|he). Hiatt recalls how Dashnow was the advocate they didn't realize they needed. Learn more about their journey to discovering their AuDHD diagnosis ▶️ bit.ly/47rY8Ym
Great talk by Dr Harriet Dashnow on TRGT de novo at #BMH2024 I didn't know that the mutation rate for repeats was so high. Preprint out now for this work here biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
It was a privilege to be invited to speak at #BMH2024 in Melbourne, and great to catch up with my COMBINE mentor Dr Harriet Dashnow 🎉✨️ thanks to Belinda Phipson and Jessica Mar for your support ❤️
