Royal Air Force Wellington HE346 was shot down near the sea wall at #Holwert on the coast of Friesland on 26 June 1943. All crew members were lost. Yesterday evening π¬π§ Deputy Ambassador Keith Allan attended a commemoration in Heelsum, with Mayor of Gemeente Renkum Agnes Schaap. Β The commemoration comes 80 years since the first parachutists dropped over the region, marking the start of Operation Market Garden.
Deputy Ambassador Keith Allan attended the burial services for two British soldiers. Private Henry Moon, the Green Howards of the The Royal Yorkshire Regiment and Lieutenant Dermod Greene Anderson of the Glider Pilot Regiment. Both fought bravely in the Battle of Arnhem in 1944.

Today, Deputy Ambassador Keith Allan attended the commemoration at the Commonwealth War Graves Jonkerbos War Cemetery. The cemetery is the final resting place of 1,629 soldiers who died on Dutch soil during WW2. 99 of the graves are of unidentified soldiers. The Grenadier Guards
