Today, we celebrate the birthday of the remarkable Clora Bryant—born May 30, 1927. A pioneering trumpeter and vocalist, Clora was a force in jazz, breaking barriers as one of the few prominent women in a male-dominated field. Happy birthday, Ms. Bryant.

RIP Mohamed Lakhdar-Hamina (1934-2025). The restored version of his Palme d'Or winner CHRONICLE OF THE YEARS OF FIRE (1975) turned up online recently, never released on DVD anywhere, and now it's available in HD and without hardsubs, amazing. gofile.io/d/T7hJmo

Today we honor and remember the life of one of the most accomplished composers in American music, Billy Strayhorn, who passed on this day in 1967. The creator of an amazing body of work, Strayhorn certainly helped move the jazz needle “Ever Up and Onward”…
