Honoring Hispanic Heritage Month by celebrating the diverse talents of our incredible school district staff! Meet Adriana Montes. She has dedicated 10+ years to HUSD and its community, currently serving as the Executive Assistant in the Educational Services Division.

Meet Frank Dardon. Born to immigrants from Guatemala and raised in San Francisco. He earned his teaching and administrative credential with a masters in Educational Leadership for Social Justice at CSUEB, which means he is "Made in Hayward.”

Meet Luis Garcia! Luis Garcia is proud to be Made in Hayward! After graduating from Hayward High School, Luis attended UC Santa Barbara where he majored in Chicano Studies. Luis is proud to be in his 11th year serving as the Principal of Longwood Elementary School.

Meet Hector Garcia. Born to Mexican immigrant parents, Hector's first generation roots as a chicano latino teacher have provided the core foundations of kindness, joy and service to the Hayward community.

Meet Angelica Gallegos. She is a first generation Mexican- American whose family migrated from Michoacán Mexico. Angelica is a Made is Hayward student and currently serves the HUSD community as an Assistant Principal at Tennyson High School.

Meet Marisela Contreras-Garcia Proudly born to immigrant parents, Maricela became the first of her family to graduate from a state university. Maricela serves our HUSD community as the Executive Assistant in the Business Services Division.

Meet Michelle Root She is a proud Mexican-American, whose maiden name of Cañada derives from Spain. This is her 23rd year supporting the amazing students, staff, and families of this great district.

Meet Pamela Arciniega. She was born in México City to parents of Mexican descent who had a total of four children. She's a proud mother of two young ladies Made in Hayward. Pam supports our Curriculum Department as our Instructional Materials Tech.

Meet Alejandro Rubio. Born & raised in Uruguay, Mr. Rubio relocated to Northern California in 2001, establishing residence with his family in Davis, California. Today, Mr. Rubio is an exhibiting artist in the San Francisco Bay Area &since November 2021, one of our interpreters

Meet Alexia Lamarque. She was born in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico and moved to the United States at the age of 12. She currently serves the HUSD community as the Office Specialist for Assessment, Curriculum & Instruction.

Meet Keytlin Picos She was born in the US and was raised by Mexican immigrants pursuing the American dream. Keytlin enjoys working with the HUSD community while supporting the College and Career Department.

Meet Andrea Gil. Andrea currently serves the HUSD community as a YEP Coordinator.

Meet Margarita Quezada. She is of Mexican Ancestry and loves mariachi music and taco trucks. She believes bookstores are magical and she enjoys adding new words to her vocabulary in both English and Spanish. Margarita serves as one of HUSD's translators/interpreters.

Meet Raul Chavez. Raul currently works as the A-G College & Career Technician at Tennyson High School and is planning to become a Counselor in the near future. In his free time he enjoys singing regional Mexican music, reading, watching sports and spending time with family.

Meet Irma Torres-Fitzsimons. Her collective approach has inspired others to continue to evolve as educators through her mentorship while being the principal at Burbank Elementary School.
