Learning to judge what to improve with our art is always a good skill to have. But also, be careful not to turn those thoughts into intense self-hatred and nitpicking. Learning to love your own art is hard, but it can and does help your work, not to mention your mental health.

The best advice I can give to learning artists is to just focus 90% of your time and energy to art that you genuinely enjoy making. The work that will get you jobs/attention is always going to be personal work, and not the work that your teacher said was “industry standard.”
