ECCE classics students! Look at this awesome work being done in classical reception! What are your favorite classical receptions in television? Prof. Silverblank obviously votes Star Trek Voyager as Odyssey, but there are countless wonders out there! x.com/lizgloyn/statu…

In Elem. Greek this AM Haverford College, we spent a few minutes looking at a passage from Derek Walcott's Omeros and considered his refiguration of the Philoctetes myth through the healing of his character Ma Kilman. #teachancient #ancientgreek #classicalreception

We used some of Dr. Rankine's thought-provoking writing as a jumping-off point to discuss racially charged translations of Greek words (such as Αἰθίοψ), which sit in the dictionary and perpetuate very particular scholarly stances on ancient Greece's relationship with blackness.

Who cries more: Odysseus' crew, or our Homer class, upon reading about all the animal deaths in the Odyssey? We were particularly devastated when Odysseus sacrificed Polyphemus' #1 best buddy (Lil Ram Jam) to Zeus last week, and we're still dealing with the loss. #teachancient

Bittersweet close to Elementary Latin. We laughed along with a student's song promoting Latin, heard a recitation of Heroides 7, and read Horace, Odes 3.30. Valete, Discipuli!
