Happy to join New Economy Project for their Social Housing Festival & Speak-Out to call for the City Council to pass the Community Land Act! This bill would give Community Land Trusts (CLTs) tools to develop & preserve affordable housing.

Tomorrow we will be hosting NYC Sanitation's shredding truck with GOLES (Good Old Lower East Side)! Stop by our district office outside of 109 Avenue B from 9:00 AM to Noon with your unwanted documents. See you at the shred truck!

Approximately 200 consitituents shredded their sensitive documents with us this morning at our shred truck with GOLES (Good Old Lower East Side) & NYC Sanitation. Missed this one? We have one coming up with Kristen Gonzalez NYC Sanitation NYC Council Member Carlina Rivera on July 1st.

There is a clear demand for more localized control over the process of removing a mayor. My bill with Jabari Brisport will do just that- allow the New York City Council the power to remove a mayor with a 3/4 vote. nytimes.com/2025/06/06/nyr…

Proud to stand w/NYS BPHA Legislative Caucus to talk about a package of bills, including my own, to enhance transparency and oversight at DOCCS. We need justice, safety, and accountability in our correctional facilities. We must pass the Robert Brooks Blueprint.

Last night, I joined NYPD 9th Precinct East Village Community Coalition Community Board 3 & tenants to take a midnight walkthrough of the neighborhood. We assessed the impact of nightlife on the community and how we can all work together to address the needs of both tenants and buisnesses.

Happy to honor Pastor Will of Trinity’s Services And Food for the Homeless with a proclamation celebrating his service to our community at the East Village Community Coalition fundraiser this evening. Pastor Will’s commitment to social justice & addressing food insecurity has touched countless lives in our neighborhood.

Great to be at Tribeca Film Fest yesterday for The Inquisitor premiere. The film is a documentary about the trailblazing leader Barbara Jordan, first southern Black woman to join congress among so many accomplishments. Congrats to director Angela Tucker for this achievement!

Happy to walk in the 2025 Puerto Rican Day Parade this weekend with Governor Kathy Hochul & colleagues from the state legislature. My district has deep Puerto Rican roots & it’s always fun to celebrate the vibrant culture that makes our neighborhood so great.

My legislation with Cordell Cleare, the Affordable Housing Retention act, was included in the state budget. This will protect the thousands of affordable apartments in mixed-income rental buildings that are beginning to expire. Learn more: crainsnewyork.com/op-ed/op-ed-ma…
