On my easel just now and as yet unfinished. I liked how a fire in the sky connected to the relief relief sculpture at the front door. Nec Tamen Consumebatur. Thanks to Gordon Hugh Lundie for bringing some attention to the current state of this fine old landmark.

I know I've used this image of a solitary figure on Newton shore before, but I thought it was a safe bet when making a rare foray into acrylics. It wasn't the most confident execution but I hope that a few finishing touches will do it. They do dry awfully quickly, though.

Very specific commissions can often be something of an ordeal. Not this one! Doing a 'where we met' and 'where we tied the knot' for such a fantastic couple was a real pleasure. Thanks also to the friends who made this happen for Moira and Simon.

81 years ago - the D Day landings. We will never forget what they did…

The industrial nature of this photo implies the inevitability of the success of the invasion. Only hours before, however, the guys with too much kit and a rifle must've felt very vulnerable, very lonely.

I put together this slide show for an ill friend who'd expressed an interest in seeing some of my adventures. It might be a bit long but it tells quite a lot of my story so far.

This popped up as a memory from ten years ago. It's based on a sketch done in a vineyard near Banyuls. I wouldn't say it's where it all started (been painting since I was a teenager), but it is where this period starts. I wonder if the person still has it?

This big boulder near the Crosshouse is quite a character. I'm sure locals have a name for it. It can be great fun when stormy.

Well, I'm on the tools fairly consistently at the moment. That said, this is what is bringing me the most joy.

Thanks to T and S for sharing this picture of their handsome bedroom. It's a fine flat and a privilege for me to have a presence there. I spent some time on these large canvasses for my Garrison show and am thrilled that the last of them has found a new home.

I tried this image in watercolour to see if it gave me anything different from the pastel.

In the spirit of Cumbrae painting and drawing ootside.(sorry Les), I popped out to look at this big boulder at low tide. It's quite a character. I hope the small sketch justified the IPA I had at Fraser's later.
