Last week I had a seminar at Human Rights Studies here at Lund University, yesterday I had one here at LUCSUS, and in two weeks I have another one at Várdduo, the Centre for Sámi Research at Umeå University. As articles in review get published, I plan to start tweeting more.

Done at Umeå Uni. for this time. My seminar on my research approach and articles landed well! Now if only the review process was not... 🐌 It was great to meet and discuss w. the researchers at Várdduo. Next: the first workshop in Mähttse feat. capacity building via CliCNord!

We started the Mähttse project by organizing a conference. We discussed what constitutes desirable forest landscapes — esp. how forest densification can & must be reversed if to improve ground lichen habitat formation, growth & sustenance. The following decades are critical!

Our CliCNord team organized an activity at the Mähttse conference. We invited Prof. Gunhild Nilsson to present new research on how climate change will affect snow conditions & discussed its implications for forest management & planning for sustainable winter grazing conditions.

In Arjeplog (again) for a board meeting in the Mähttse project. I think that we managed to find useful areas to focus our resources towards, building on outcomes from the conference. Happy to be working with such brilliant and experienced people.

We add to the literature on cumulative impact assessments on reindeer pastoralism with a storyline approach, and use the case to bring this literature to speak to the climate and biodiversity science–policy interfaces with our CliCNord-paper on basal ice. link.springer.com/article/10.100…

How is the Sámi movement mobilising to address the grievances of Indigenous reindeer pastoralists? I analyze 10 years of media data to present grievances expressed in the public, strategies applied to address them, and discuss limitations and opportunities ecologyandsociety.org/vol28/iss4/art…

Happy about our new article on public contestations by Sámi reindeer pastoralists against encroachments. It elucidates forceful struggles against "compensations" supported by hegemonic actors and speaks to debates on pastoralism and transformative change. doi.org/10.1016/j.jrur…

Our new study of reforms and coalition building around Indigenous Sámi reindeer pastoralism is relevant to ongoing discussions in critical environmental scholarship that investigate the agents and strategies able to tackle sustainability challenges. 🔗doi.org/10.1177/251484…

This short documentary is about the Maskaure reindeer herding community that has shared so much with me over the years. It lends insight into reindeer pastoralism and Sámi traditions but it is mainly a story about trust, friendship and the power of giving. campfire-stories.org/the-gift
