Advocacy is awesome. But constant chaos doesn’t build systems change, it burns people out. It slows it down. Respect ones already grinding behind the scenes. Slow down, listen, enjoy the work being done. If the work isn’t being done, then get loud. Some of you have it backwards.

Saw written recently. “DSS was reformed & reborn under his watch” My job was to do all the hard things so the next person wouldn’t have to. Legacy isn’t about credit, it’s clearing the path. < than 10% turnover 40% less kids in foster care More all around support 4 families

Best investment by SC Legislature for 2026. Expanding home visiting programs in South Carolina by just 10% could boost child development, reduce healthcare costs, strengthen families, & lower crime rates. A small investment for a healthier, more prosperous future!

$1,000 bonus to have a kid. Nice idea, right? Raising a child today costs $300K+. Kids stay home longer, can’t afford a house, start adulthood harder than we did. A bonus? Band-aid on a bigger problem.

I guess grok or chatgpt or Gemini haven’t heard the news that acetaminophen causes autism. If Tylenol does cause it, I guess Generic brands sold under different names, like Up&Up at Target or Equate at Walmart don’t. This is so strange.

Reckless things in the news: Nancy Mace, now a self-proclaimed 'doctor,' thinks it's okay to take ibuprofen during pregnancy. New bill banning abortion even for rape victims. South Carolina’s childcare crisis goes unaddressed by legislature leaving families struggling.

The irony: Nancy calls the polls “fake news” then turns around and attacks the frontrunner they show beating her. She also promised zero state taxes… now says it’ll take 5 years. Classic.

Just a reminder that the federal government is providing less & less $’s to the state and the state(legislature) will have to come up with the $’s, but will not want to. This will be bad over the next few years.

Nov will be tough for people across the county. Here is a Missouri notice as an example of what’s coming. There will immediate gaps in grocery funding. Caregiver will quickly have to choose rent, food, utilities. Meals will be missed by kids.

We are going to see if lobbying really works? How powerful is the NGA, NRF and NACS? We will see in the next two weeks. They have a lot at stake.

Legislators out here calling it ‘incompetence’ when people actually do their jobs in the incompetent systems the legislators have created. Nothing says accountability like blaming the folks who show up and do the work.

Next week I get to testify in front of the subcommittee on work and welfare around needs around TAY following the White House announcement and EO by the First Lady and president Trump. There is momentum and focus on collaboration.
