Race-neutrality in #SCOTUS rulings is detached from reality. Eg: pragmatic measure of racism (in paper&⬇️): Black & Native Am=2x higher share of most disadvantaged. Worse: Are just 1/5 and 1/50 of white ppln. Need genuine equality of opportunity in education, health & beyond.

I have a new paper in JAMA with Mary Ziegler & Eli Adashi on a threat to abortion access that we think that has not received enough attention in the medical community: The Comstock act. We explain what it is, how it threatens abortion access, and what the courts should do

In way too many ways. I'm partial, of course, but we really need to pay attention to direct impacts (lower Black physical rates and assoc. lower life expectancy in Black communities) & indirect ones, whether via chilling effects or legal action by now emboldened groups, see:⬇️

Lots of debate re 2024 International Association of Bioethics World Congress location (Qatar). Important. But global bioethics equity debate is broader: All need to actively engage in next phase. Not engaging isn't neutral. It's being complicit in sustaining inequitable status quo jme.bmj.com/content/50/9/5…
