Found myself discussing developer intent in Splatoon. Was Splatoon meant to be for-fun and casual, then the players forced it to be competitive like Smash? I thought of this Splat 1 dev interview, then realized this is a part of Splatoon's history that everybody should see:

[Splatoon 3] Team Past wins the Grand Festival!! The Grand Festival venue has now closed, and everyone has been taken back to Inkopolis or Splatsville.

[Splatoon 3] To return to the Grand Festival venue, scan any Squid Sisters, Off the Hook, or Deep Cut amiibo! You can see all three variations of the hub (day 1 & 2, day 3, and post-Splatfest). Select the Train Station from the menu to leave or skip to the next song.

[Splatoon 3] Content updates have now ended for Splatoon 3. However, seasonal Splatfests (Splatoween, Frosty Fest, etc), Big Runs (past stages), and Eggstra Work events will continue. Balance patches will also be released on an "irregular" basis.

Splatoon might be the second game next to Fortnite to actually properly execute live events. There is so much heart and soul into this it's insane and the best part is that this runs on switch without a single frame drop
