Die tegenstand komt dan wel rijkelijk laat. In augustus was de partij die voor boeren zegt op te komen nog onbereikbaar voor commentaar. Het ontbrak hierdoor aan een eenduidige kabinetspositie waardoor NL geen druk kon uitoefenen op Brussel. Frankrijk stond er alleen voor.
