.Jon Piccini Evan Padraic Gibson have put together a 🔥special issue, honoured to be involved. So many brilliant articles, international hist of the Oz Left at its very best & a hopeful new look at anti-colonial politics & its variable protest cultures in these dark days.

I wonder how many students across the world have engaged with Lyndall’s work over the decades? A monumental loss, and a beautiful tribute. Vale.

The NTEU welcomes new governance principles for universities. The current system is completely broken. We will keep fighting to make universities exemplary employers. As a starting point that means reducing insecure work, ending wage theft and safer workloads.

Stuart Palmer Wow that is quite telling, thanks. Crazy really if one considers the implications for students and staff - surely restructuring that frequently does not bode well for organisational effectiveness.

Peter Woelert In 2007 we asked Director's of Aus T&L Centres about restructuring, and other things. At that time: ' approximately 70 per cent of respondent Centres are less than 3 years old, with another 13 per cent about to be restructured imminently'.

Lots of bright coloured birds in the mountains. Crimson rosellas are a dime a dozen. King parrots a slightly rarer treat. But while the banksia flowers are out the rainbow lorikeets are here too. Beauties.

NTEU research on the front page of today's @TheAge shows the number of unelected appointments on university councils and senates outstrips those elected from staff, students and graduates. Ministers must act on the broken governance model when they meet today.

It’s really hard to describe the pressures of being an academic at risk of redundancy. You still have to deliver everything the job demands (and normal working conditions demand way too much, prompting years of industrial action) in teaching, research & admin …/1

Join the blackheathhistoryforum on May 11 when Kate Fullagar #ceasefire speaks about her wonderful book! I’m unable to go, which is annoying, but I have read this book closely and love it. Bookings here blackheathhistoryforum.org.au/2024-2/
