If you're wondering why the apparent ICE detention of SEIU California leader David Huerta is all over your timeline: SEIU is one of the biggest players in CA politics, which you're seeing with the many electeds demanding Huerta's release. A major, combustible standoff

It has been a rough year for Los Angeles. Reporters at the Los Angeles Times have been there to document the fires, the protests, etc. — despite layoffs and buyouts that have cut the paper to its bone. I am so proud of my former colleagues. You all are rock stars ✊

A line being echoed by politicians at every level right now: “If they can do this to him, they can do it to anyone.”

I asked Gavin Newsom abt reports of journalists being hit with rubber bullets while covering LA protests. He said 2 investigations are underway. "Reporters absolutely should feel safe, & we'll get to the bottom of it. I don't want to prejudge, but I'm concerned about it.
