Why has menopause become a normal part of every woman's life, when it causes unnecessary suffering? Why is reproductive aging research still significantly underfunded when half of the population experiences menopause? I believe this *needs* to change, so I wrote a piece about

I love #cellpose but when training on my images the segmentation ends up worse than the model zoo 😭 I believe it’s under fitting - can anyone help? #bioimage

What can I say, my supervisor lends the best reading. A great book by Mary Roach - highly entertaining and engaging! Some interesting looks from fellow train passengers on the commute.

Bad news & yet another example of how easily methods become widespread without acknowledging the limitations. I’m sure we are guilty of similar offenses in cell biology & imaging research. Sometimes there is no better option but we all need to be better about noting limitations.

Well worth a watch. The initial bit is horrifying : and true for so many women in science. I tried industry and academia and for all that matters I favor academia. But we need to acknowledge it’s broken so we can fix it. My dream died, and now I'm here youtu.be/LKiBlGDfRU8?si…

That amazing paper you spent years on? That amazing breakthrough you had? Very likely you built this following the work of others (very few exceptions), just as others will build off yours. Science is a continuum. Want to leave a lasting legacy in science? Be generous & be kind.

Advice for scholars: next time you lecture on Kant and revolutions at “Downing” (Darwin College) Cambridge, make sure your hair is neatly tied and that you’re not blonde. Or else your research impact will be on the The Spectator libido section.

Bilbo Baggins is 111. Yet his epigenetic age is only 50. He’s aging at an annual rate of 0.00, like butter scraped over too much bread, outpacing Dave Pascoe. Here’s a breakdown of his biohacking protocol (it costs WAY less than you think):
