I am horrified by news of yet another carnage among civilians in Gaza desperate for humanitarian aid. These deaths are totally unacceptable. Depriving people of food aid constitutes a serious violation of IHL. Unhindered humanitarian access to Gaza must be granted.

Senior members of 36 global news outlets, including Haaretz, issued an open letter on Friday affirming their support for Palestinian journalists in Gaza, 89 of whom have been killed in the war since October 7 haaretz.com/world-news/202…

What caused the latest tragedy in Gaza are the restrictions on humanitarian access imposed by Israel & obstructions by violent extremist to the supply of aid. Firing on civilians is unjustifiable. We call for an international investigation. My statement: europa.eu/!YHhmv8

I join US Vice President Kamala Harris Kamala Harris' call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. There should then be no obstacle for a #UNSC resolution to that effect. Vice President Kamala Harris rightly said that too many people have been killed and urged Israel to allow unimpeded humanitarian access. Time for the UNSC to act.
