Gempa di tengah conflict politic, seperti apa? Challenge dalam riset, mitigasi dan penanganan kedaruratannya: Chocolate DRR Talk #15 Saturday, 4th November 2023, 15.00 - 16.00 PM Jakarta time. bit.ly/ChocotalkDRR15 U-INSPIRE Alliance U-INSPIRE Indonesia

It was wonderful to meet DARYONO BMKG and his team at the Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Center in Jakarta today. We had some great discussions about monitoring and understanding geohazard risk in Indonesia. I hope this is the beginning of new partnerships between BGS and BMKG.

Today was spent at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) BRIN Indonesia Jakarta Tamrin office. I caught up with my students and discussed ideas with some brilliant early career scientists working in natural hazards and risk. The future is bright in their hands. 😊

Today we met heads of centres at Badan Informasi Geospasial (BIG) where we discussed geospatial data, modelling and reference frame development activities. BIG has big (pun intended) ambitions for Indonesian geospatial data! 2nd photo is of the oldest continuous GNSS sensor in the country!

A huge honour to meet Prof. Ocky, Chairman of the Research Organisation for Earth Sciences and Maritime. We had an overview of BRIN Indonesia's key science priorities. It's an exciting time for earth science research in Indonesia! We look forward to continuing to work with you

My wonderful colleague Rahma Hanifa (Rahma Hanifa) and I have been working together on hazards in Indonesia since 2018. But only recently did we realise that we were PhD student participants at the 2014 GENAH conference in Japan! Here we are next to each other holding N & A 🤯

Now at Bangkok airport ready to head home after a stimulating three weeks in Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. We discussed so much hazards science! I've posted some very early reflections on LinkedIn. linkedin.com/posts/ekbal-hu… British Geological Survey BRIN Indonesia Earth Observatory SG ADPC
