Fascinating to watch two teens experiencing Verdi's Requiem for the first time this evening. Just not possible to do wry indifference during the 'Dies Irae'. Good chips at South Ken's Honest Burgers afterwards too. Great night out. #bbcproms

I’ve become fixated on the British team’s complaint that the French Olympic chefs have served them ‘raw meat’. No more detail is given. Does this mean they got steak tartare or underdone chicken? Undercooked burger or salmonella? Maybe nuggets would have been simpler all round.

Already one week in to this Proms season. Here's my review of the fantastic Laura Van der Heijden playing with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra conducted by Ryan Wigglesworth last night. Prom 10 - an engaging and esoteric delight theartsdesk.com/classical-musi…

Incredibly sorry to hear about [email protected]. It was always a joy to bump into him in the pub. This was the piece he wrote for me at Avaunt - a fantastic analysis of the legacy of the Gaddafis. avauntmagazine.com/the-legacy-of-… We will raise a glass to you tonight Kim.

‘It is like being in a foundry or a scrap metal yard, with all kinds of terrible metallic tending, hammering, pounding, screaming and crashing sounds. If you’ve never heard it, you’d be forgiven for wondering how ice - mere frozen water - can possibly generate such a cacophony.’

NOT bullfighting. Bull jumping. No one dies and there are some great gymnastics. Tonight’s entertainment in the Gers. Who needs the Olympics?

People thought it was a mad idea to make a pilgrimage to see El Greco in Toledo in 40 degree heat. So we went - and lived to tell the tale, fuelled by much water and vats of iced coffee.

These are not cat photos. They’re mouse photos. A field mouse that my mother found raiding her cat’s bowl tonight. We watched and cheered it on as it plundered the biscuits and water and departed alive. It made me think of Zelensky’s latest tactics. As I said, not cat photos.

It’s been sixteen years since I was last at the Guggenheim in Bilbao. Last time I was four months pregnant. Now, finally, it felt like time to bring the ‘bump’ back so he could experience it outside the womb. Fantastic afternoon.

A real theatrical event. Great concept, full-blooded writing, and performances of thermonuclear charisma. Electric atmosphere in the auditorium too. My take on 'Shifters'. thetimes.com/culture/theatr…

I felt very fortunate to be able to see Yo-Yo Ma's trio and the Berliner Philharmoniker in the same day. Here's my review of the first concert. "Prom 54, Ma, Ax, Kavakos review – exquisite display of humility and communication" theartsdesk.com/classical-musi…

We counted the distance in ‘sisters’ today. The Seven Sisters cliffs between Seaford and Eastbourne. Legs now v much in cotton wool mode. But it was spectacular.
