The old vicarage that faces on to All Saints Church, Claverley, Shropshire.

“An interesting C15 house with original beamed ceilings and evidence of the original screen. Its picturesque end gable ... is Elizabethan or Jacobean.” (Pevsner)

All Saints Church, Claverley, Shropshire.

Has early Norman origins & was founded by Roger de Montgomery in the C11.

Pevsner states that by the C12 the church would have had ‘remarkably ambitious dimensions.’

Just Worcestershire doing its lovely understated thing.

Arley on the River Severn.

When the Severn Valley Railway is running, it cuts along the opposite bank and the steam clouds appear through the tree line.

The figures carved into the Chancel Arch at Kilpeck Church, Herefordshire.

Pevsner speculates that these carvings may date from earlier in the C12 than the church door.

The standing cross at St Mary’s, Kingswinford, old Staffordshire, now West Mids.

The majority of the cross is medieval in origin according to Historic England and is believed to stand in or near to its original position.

St Ethelbert’s Hospital, Hereford.

The current alms houses were re-built in 1805 but there have been alms houses on the site since 1225.

Residents had their own pew at nearby Hereford Cathedral.

So fabulous to see the much loved Bridgnorth Cliff Railway back in operation at the weekend after a 14 month closure for urgent repairs.

The railway opened in 1892 & connects High and Low Town.

The church of St Mary the Virgin, Cleobury Mortimer, Shropshire.

The wonderful slightly leaning spire is C14 on a C12 base.

An eye catching landmark clearly visible as you approach, especially from the direction of Clee Hill.

Windows and arches in the Lady Chapel, Hereford Cathedral.

The chapel was built 1220-1230.

“The walls are so richly shafted as to convey luxuriance.” (Pevsner)
