Is it just me, or are more vision papers relying on synthetic datasets to train foundational 3D models (I plotted a graph for this)? Why does the synthetic-to-real gap suddenly seem irrelevant? Hypersim and VKITTI2 have been around since 2021 — so what sparked this trend?
