I can now confirm that Loren Sherman was never consulted or asked about the BBC using his fan-made circular gallifreyan system, or changing it slightly and then using it as the ‘official’ Gallifreyan.

Loren has always been open about how everyone should be able to use it, sell things using it, etc. But for the actual official BBC to use it without credit and slightly changing it… feels icky. Feels weird.

Credit really needs to be given here. Yes, Sherman’s is free for everyone to use. But this is HUGE. The BBC and Doctor Who brand have now made a fans work canon, not only for promotional material, but merchandise and In-universe objects. This isn’t a fan making stickers.

I just noticed how Gallifreyan looks like a bit Tamazighs language We have some similar symbol ⵓⵀⴱⵕⵙⵔⵛⴰⴻ

And since it looks like tamazighs, i'd be cool if vocally it sounds like it as well

I'm not gonna use the Gallifreyan translator anymore since bbc didn't even cared of credit Sherman for his work. His translator was the one fans used since long, and bbc just took it whithout at least once credit

Give credit to Sherman. The "official" translator was his work of 2011 that you have taken whithout even one concideration for them. fans are not volunteers and especially not their works

Having your work being stolen whithout credit by people in general is scary but now if official accounts start to do it.....
