Did you know? The SR-71 needed special OIL for the engine: then finding a leak in the hydraulic fluid required the special maintenance. The oil needed to be warmed up! The following was recently written by SR-71 Pilot, Stormy Boudreaux. MIL-L-8700 this was uniquely different,

President Trump, JD, Vance and Pete Hegseth all salute while the Star-Spangled Banner plays at Arlington National Cemetery. This is what I voted for.

EXCUSE ME, DO YOU HAVE A DINGY STABBER I CAN BORROW? "Look in the left side of the window of this SR-71. You will see a dingy stabber". This is just a six-inch long flat piece of metal with a pointed end, and used for puncturing life rafts should they inflate accidentally in

Shadow SR-71 One of the SR 71 ’s clever defense tools was a deception jammer. It was an ingenious device that absorbed and memorized an enemy radar signal as it hit the SR 71 then sent back a radar signal similar to the SR but stronger and projected it away from the airplane .

White Bird? Using a law of thermodynamics Ben Rich tried to convinced Kelly Johnson to paint the A-12 Black. It was very rare when Kelly Johnson admitted he was wrong. Overnight, however, he apparently had second thoughts, or did some textbook reading on his own, and at the next

Is a flameout and an unstart the same thing? SR 71 pilot David Peters answered…Linda Sheffield Miller: no, they are not the same. An unstart is what Lockheed terms an aerodynamic disturbance. That is when the shock wave escapes the inlet for any particular reason. A flame-out

I was just in the right place at the right time as a teenager growing up at Beale Air Force Base. I was often in the home of Jerry O’Malley, Harlan Hain, and Ed Payne, along with my parents, Butch and Rosie Sheffield. They were my role models. This picture from the book

A short video from the movie The Blackbird Story shows the 955, the first SR-71 that my father, Butch Sheffield, flew on October 4, 1965. This was before the record books. His pilot was Pete Collins. We moved to Beale about a year later after my father finished all of the flight
