Thank you DanielKahneman for opening my eyes to the world of behavioral economics. Thinking, fast and slow sent me down a rabbit hole of knowledge that I am still happily exploring. It has added immense value to my life. Your legacy will live on.

Elephants in the room: Our apathy & careless attitude towards our health, the quality of our relationships, personal debt. We put off exercise, have friends only on social media. Credit cards and loan schemes only sweep money problems under the rug. They are quick fixes.

All past governments should bear equal responsibility for the current state of our economy. Why is the commodification of our natural resources seen as the only viable economic activity? Sticking to the low-hanging fruit is bound to end up in disaster.

Hotels and resorts generate revenue when rooms are occupied. Hotel rooms are perishable products, a room that is vacant today loses that revenue forever. The trend line for bed capacity utilization is heading down - has been that way for a long time now 😔

Sometimes you find genuinely satisfying reasons to be thankful to algorithms - like when you search for a book and then go into a rabbit hole of discovery. That is serendipity at its best.

Hospitality business today demands extraordinary levels of patience and composure. Guest incivility, marked by rude and irrational behavior, is increasingly common. This widespread culture of entitlement takes a significant toll on the mental wellbeing of those who serve guests.

A joy to reunite with TEDRY⚫️⚪️, storytelling maestro extraordinaire. From the '90s to now, his productions continue setting industry standards. Can't wait to share what we're 'cooking' up together!

In the early 90s at Kani & Laguna, I met Mohamed weekly & as I worked in F&B, we talked for long after the shows. 20 years ago when I went to Muscle Load, he would stand next the treadmill talking to me. He was a good friend. May Allah bless his soul with the best in Jannat.

The third letter in the series. Here I reflect on the illusion of time as an infinite resource and how our 20s become the foundation we build on later in our careers. hasaeed81.wordpress.com/2025/06/12/you…

In November 1983, the small Provençal town of Valbonne played host to a roundtable for Ethnographers. Among the presenters was B. Koechlin, a French ethnographer, who stood before colleagues with a curious offering: a Maldivian poem. hasaeed81.wordpress.com/2025/09/07/baa…
