GYBN UK is at #COP16Colombia! Only a few months old, the UK Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN) chapter, has five of our team on the ground in Cali. We've been updating folk over on Instagram and LinkedIn so find us over there to learn more about what we've been up to and what this space entails!
We've been tracking the negotiations, helping the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN) policy team identify where country's positions align or conflict with the global youth priorities. 🧑💻👨💻👩💻 #COP16Colombia
Today we held an event at the Academic & Research Hub on the role of youth leadership in ensuring policy is evidence-informed. Thank you to Chris Sandbrook & Prof Garcia Ferrari, for joining our members Elouise Mayall and harsh seb, & Seth Thomas for his excellent chairing! #COP16
Thank you to the European Economic and Social Committee and IUCN for having our Coordinator, abi gardner (she/her), speak at their event on nature-based solutions, bringing together biodiversity and climate change, and the role of youth.
It was great to take part in the Nature Positive Universities event, with our founding member Josh Shaw sharing the amazing work he and others at the Nottingham Trent University to bring biodiversity back to campus! #COP16Colombia
It was lovely to bump into Mary Creagh CBE MP while at #COP16 and share with her the UK Youth Priorities for Nature and how we can work together to ensure the youth voice is present in the development of policies concerning people and nature. gybnuk.co.uk/projects/uk-yo…
While at #COP16 we've met with The Wildlife Trusts to swap our priorities and find alignments. It was great to chat to Craig Bennett and Rob Stoneman about how we could work together to improve youth participation in the biodiversity policy space.
Today we met with Tony Juniper to share with him how global youth engage in and influence the UN Biodiversity negotiations, highlight the difficulties in accessing these spaces, and the important role UK youth can have in national policy development.
Thanks to Rob Stoneman and Craig Bennett for having us on their daily live update on #COP16 Women's day to share our experience of being young women in conservation and the work Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN) does at UN Biodiversity to ensure the convention text is inclusive.
