At the #MicroEvo22, I shared my PhD work under the supervision of Jenna Gallie and collaborating with @EvolTheoArne and @FlorenceBansept on the evolutionary fate of the unstable large duplication in SBW25. In short, we found smaller duplication and alternative mutations arose.

Meet Archireef, the climate tech startup founded by PhD student Vriko Yu and Dr David Baker from HKU School of Biological Sciences. They operate on a subscription model and provide ecological impact reports to clients. Profitable and expanding, Archireef protects coral reefs and fights climate change.

Today is the IMPRS celebration day @MPI_EvolBio 🍰 💪🏻 Sungbin Lim gave a nice talk about evolution of programmed ribosomal frameshifting in SBW25 👏🏻

Arrived in Edinburgh attending Microbiology Society #Microbio24. I will present at Genetics & Genomics Forum on Thursday morning sharing how bacteria population evolve to change their tRNA gene set and get stable. Looking forward to see you at the conference 😀

Our paper showing that sphingomyelin 34:1 (⬆️ in🧍osteoarthritis synovial fluid) sensitises🐁sensory neurons in vitro & causes pain behaviours + knee-innervating neuronal hyperexcitability in 🐁 in vivo is now out in Osteoarthritis and Cartilage Journals sciencedirect.com/science/articl… Tweetorial 👇 #neuroscience

A good week for Monica Lanhui Qiu - after being co-first author on our sphingomyelin paper sciencedirect.com/science/articl…, her sole first author paper examining the effects of artemin on mouse vs. naked mole-rat sensory neurons is out 😀 link.springer.com/article/10.100…

Hats off to lead author Tony Lim who drove this project from writing the fellowship application, to establishing new techniques in the lab. We developed a reversible self-amplifying RNA (saRNA) system that encodes innate immune suppression directly within saRNA. Next: in vivo!
