What are 2-3 comps for your current WIP? ALWAYS ACCORD is what would happen if Logan Lucky’s blue collar crew lived in the universe of Derek Künsken’s The Quantum Magician and decided to rob the space version of that ship that got stuck in the Suez Canal

Finished listening to THE GATHERING, by C. J. Tudor - what a fabulous ride! Loved this Alaskan vampire murder mystery from start to finish. Atmosphere thicker than an arctic blizzard. Lorelei King’s narration was perfect too! Highly recommended for mystery & vampire fans #AmReading

Refreshing my synopsis after some pretty major changes, and WOOF, I remember why these things are a slog. Doing what I can to inject it with some personality without using 10K words.

Some of my favorite craft books are in this stack! That being said, the real answer for me is some amalgam of all the books - good and bad, classic and modern, all across genres - that I've read.

Oh absolutely, no question! As a side tip for writers: if you really like a book (or it’s a comp), check the acknowledgements for who the writer’s agent is so you can add them to your query list.

Futurescapes was a phenomenal experience for me. It gave me not only deep insight into my prose, but my query package as well. Best of all, it led me to some wonderful friendships. Writing can be isolating, and having a community makes a WORLD of difference.

For any sci fi writers out there, check out this great craft book. It’s a bit older (‘95), but filled with tons of info, illustrations, and easy(ish) math explainers if you want to dig in. Give it a try if you want to make some planets of your own! #AmWriting #WritingCommunity

The Snuvv (the secret strange hole in the Once-ler’s gruvvulous glove) has got to be the most disquieting thing I’ve seen in a children’s book. Look at that thing. Just awful.

Gotta boost The Spear Cuts Through Water - read it recently and it rocked my world. Definitely need to check out the rest on this list too!

Drafting: How long could someone stay conscious after removing a foreign object puncturing their lung? Querying: Increasingly desperate pleas to tell me if synopsis length guidelines are for single- or double-spaced

Finished reading TOUCH OF DEATH, by Taylor Munsell is order TOUCH OF DEATH! I loved how the story plays with fate & I was constantly on my toes worrying abt George & pals (in the best way!) This witchy world’s a BLAST, but the characters’ love & friendship is the novel’s true beating heart #AmReading

Taking advantage of this unreasonably beautiful day by editing outside. Got my WIP, a sneaky glass of Pernod, and a fuzzy audience. #AmWriting

Stoked to be diving back into the weird universe of my space heist novel! Goal is to whip this thing into shape for querying later this year. First step: a fresh reading focused on macro flow, character arcs and, my bane, pesky crime logistics.
