Two of our fearless SCT leaders on the picket line in front of Chicago Tribune’s Freedom Center. Show your support at the picket line, we love to hear honks and cheers 🪧🗣️ @TessKenny12 Wendy Fox Weber #ChicagoTribuneOnStrike
More Latinos in Pilsen are college educated & make more money. ‘(The) gentrification that has occurred, has not been an exact displacement yet of Latinos, versus it has been a shift in the types of households of Latinos.’ Some say it is Gentefication—> chicagotribune.com/2024/06/03/a-n…
Add 2 more to the list of 1000s of cuts that are hurting local news in Chicagoland. Monday, Suburban CT Guild unit chair and longtime Tribune Publishing Company entertainment editor Wendy Fox Weber was and Pioneer Press editorial asst. Nancy Swanson were told their jobs were being cut
Nancy was the friendly voice on the end of the line when readers called with with tips, queries, complaints or praise for Pioneer Press. She loved how her work, from compiling community calendars, to the "Throwback Thursday" photo feature, helped knit together suburban towns
That work, which helps bind our increasingly fractious communities around local events and experiences, will fall to the already over-stretched staff that remains— if it still gets done at all. Tribune Publishing Company readers, and workers, deserve better.
Wendy is a leader among the team that bargained a historic first contract with Tribune Publishing Company that improved wages and benefits for Guild members. Bargaining took 6 years! It is not lost on us that one of our most vocal, effective activists was laid off just 2 months later
Chicago News Guild members demand that Tribune Publishing Company rescind these layoffs and restore Wendy Fox Weber and Nancy Swanson their jobs!
