NOW: And it’s official — none of the Republicans defending IRA tax credits voted against the mega reconciliation bill, which just passed the House. They’re hoping for changes to ease the rollbacks in the Senate.

Blue Ray or Bust is not a strategy But it will be point number one in the Harvard business school case study for how incumbents failed to navigate a revolution everyone saw coming 🤦‍♂️ reuters.com/business/autos…

Forget 1.5 degrees were about to blow past 2 It’s time we have some uncomfortable conversations about how we limit the impacts of this unprecedented warming Time to put your big kid pants on because they won’t be fun, at all 😬

"The United States may be hemorrhaging the political capital that coordinating the energy transition requires, but it still controls the currency of decarbonization itself." My latest for Heatmap News, about the Inflation Reduction Act and the global dollar system:

Inflation got you down? Last year, the price of electricity fell 52% on Texas grid—despite rising demand for 🔌. Why? A 14% drop in natural gas prices helped, but most of decrease is attributable to more solar+batteries. So, if you want lower prices...add more solar+batteries.

1Q25 U.S. utility-scale capacity additions were 10.3GWac with utility-scale solar accounting for 65% (6.7GWac) of total capacity additions.

In 2024, China🇨🇳's total renewable generation grew TWICE as much as it every had done before. It added 494TWh - that's the total electricity demand of Germany🤯

I try hard to avoid politics here, it’s seldom helpful. That said, it’s insane to me that wind/solar/batteries are seen as left leaning things. These are the cheapest forms of energy in human history and we can make them all here. This IS energy independence.
