Geneticist whose lab does experimental evolution, using yeast as a model. Because being a footballer was never going to work out, due to lack of talent.

*** PLEASE RETWEET***** I am still looking for a promising postdoc for this project. This project probes the interface between protein structure and developmental timing. From real-time, in vivo transcriptional dynamics to protein structure/function.

Interested in intrinsically disordered proteins or transcription factor activation? Or purifying & measuring affinities for 1000s of protein/protein interactions? Check out Nicole DelRosso & Peter Suzuki's preprint (w/ Bintu Lab & Alex Holehouse) shorturl.at/jEneh (1/n)

I organized a coding bootcamp for my lab earlier this summer with some of my group members and colleagues. We learned a few things I shared here: nature.com/articles/d4158…

View of Factory Butte, on the way out of Capitol Reef. This doesn’t really capture the immensity, like something from Gormenghast. Southern Utah’s landscape continues to amaze and astonish me on a daily basis.

Today we visited the other worldly insanity that is Goblin Valley State Park. Replete with hoodoos, but totally different from Bryce. You can make out goblins, pixies, sprites, dwarves’ hats, monsters’ bones and misshapen skulls so alien they could have been designed by HR Giger.

Can you genotype a variant with only the information in the image below? We were surprised DeepVariant can get an F1 of 0.82 for Insertions with only MAPQ, vs F1 0.48 for random guessing. Why? we investigate how DeepVariant uses signals in a new blog (google.github.io/deepvariant/po…)
