Ask your provider to not strip your membranes. GBS can cross even intact membranes and procedures such as this may push bacteria closer to your baby. Be aware that you may test negative for #groupBstrep, but be positive later. gbsi.me/MembraneStripp…

Moms, you know your baby best. If you sense something is off about your baby or that something is wrong, trust your gut. Seek medical care or talk to your healthcare provider. We also encourage healthcare providers to listen to these concerns and take them seriously #groupbstrep

In many countries, #groupBstrep guidelines recommend getting tested for GBS during your 36th or 37th week of pregnancy! If the test result is positive, you should receive IV antibiotics when labor starts or your water breaks. Knowing your GBS status is important! #GBSTest

We are conducting a survey of mothers worldwide, with and without a baby infected by group B strep (GBS), to help identify gaps in care and communication regarding GBS disease in babies. Visit gbs-intl.org/waves to learn more and participate!

If you have already had a baby with #groupBstrep (GBS) disease, you should receive IV antibiotics for GBS during labor and delivery even if you later test negative for GBS in your urine or in a vaginal/rectal swab test for GBS in a current or future pregnancy.

Ask your healthcare provider to do a urine culture for #groupBstrep and other bacteria at your first prenatal visit. If your urine tests positive, your provider should consider you as GBS colonized (GBS+) for this pregnancy. Learn more at gbs-intl.org/gbs-testing

Prenatal-onset #groupBstrep disease is often overlooked or not recognized, discounting that GBS can infect babies during pregnancy causing babies to be miscarried, stillborn, or born already sick. gbsi.me/prenatalonset

#GroupBstrep infections which occur within the first week of life are called “early-onset” GBS disease. If you are GBS+ you should be offered IV antibiotics during labor and delivery. Awareness is the first step towards prevention! groupbstrepinternational.org/early-onset-gb…

Late-onset #groupBstrep disease occurs in babies from 7 days of age up to several months old. There are currently no prevention protocols. However, being able to recognize the signs of GBS infection in babies is imperative for prompt medical treatment for better outcomes!

Recurrent #groupBstrep is when a baby has had a GBS infection, been treated successfully, and is later infected by GBS, again. After an initial infection, parents need to be educated so they are aware!
