Quotes today from an ops colleague outside the FP bubble: "Remember those Scala codebases? I miss them, they never went down" "...had 100s of null pointers in the logs in this JS app. Never had one with the FP ones" "...this Scala app, launched & didn't go down in 8 months"

Thankfully "show how clever you are" questions seem to be way less common than I thought before I started speaking. Plus I think the audience can tell the difference.

Cats 2.0.0 is released. The major version is bumped mainly because we broke binary compatibility on cats-laws (together with alleycats and cats-testkit), but the core modules: cats-cores and cats-kernels remain binary compatible with Cats 1.x. Kudos to all contributors!

Then a huge one for Rúnar and his "Constraints Liberate, Liberties Constrain" which is the most influential talk I ever watched. I keep finding myself referencing it almost every week and it hugely affected my thinking about software design. #ScalaThankYou

Every time Git/Github/continuous integration/etc causes me to need to push a vacuous commit to trigger something I do a doc update instead.
