Saw this on the way to work and I had pull over. “And the earth was formless and unseen, and darkness was over the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” Genesis 1:2

One of the most misunderstood points about Eutchyes, is that statements that sound “Monophysite” from him, actually originate in the works of St. Gregory of Nyssa or other Cappadocians LOL

Was just explained to me that 1 Corinthians 11:27 in the Arabic translation replaces “guilty” with “مُجْرِمًا” , meaning criminal. Literal: “So whoever eats this bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner becomes a criminal against the body and blood of the Lord.”

FWIW, I believe that relying on screens (and by extension, cell phone use) during the liturgy is ultimately a drawback. I also understand that it remains the most practical/cost-effective solution for a complex liturgy prayed in 3 languages that requires active lay participation.

In all honesty, icon use was probably a common practice, but not entirely a universal practice of the apostolic-prechalcedonian church - which is fine. However, the decision to anathematize those who do not kiss/venerate icons at the 2nd “council” of Nicea, makes little sense.

The question of canonizing Komitas Vardapet has formally been placed on the agenda of the Armenian Apostolic Church. During its recent session, the Supreme Spiritual Council resolved to establish special committees to organize spiritual and cultural events marking the 1700th
