It's hard not to wonder just how independent The Church of England 'independent reviews' are, when they are published on the cofe website with a carefully crafted press release put out simultaneously that plays down the serious criticisms they contain viamedia.news/2024/04/12/che…

"We note with sadness and concern the rise in hostility towards those who come to these islands seeking refuge." Archbishops @JustinWelby and Archbishop of York join with church leaders to renew their commitment to caring for the most vulnerable. 📝 cofe.io/AfterRwanda.

Praying for the Anglican Church following the resignation of Archbishop Justin Welby. Praying too for him & his family. Asking the Lord to heal hurts, right wrongs, bring reconciliation & to raise up the right person to take on this strategic & profoundly challenging role 🙏

Safeguarding for the Church of England should be handled by a national, independent, body. As soon as a safeguarding concern is raised with anybody, from Vicar to Archbishop, it should be reported straight to that body. A failure to do so should be a disciplinary matter.

Coercion & gaslighting are cultures that also need to be addressed and eliminated in The Church of England if we want our church to be safe. I endorse wholeheartedly what my safeguarding colleagues have said here. I was appalled by the insensitivity of the speech towards victims and survivors. churchofengland.org/safeguarding/s…

The best response to a bully is to stand up to them. The best thing for Europe and the UK to do is to step up, fund our security properly ( not with Treasury tricks and spin) and be prepared to use all means possible to ensure Putin fails in Ukraine. 1/2
