P2 Tender Milestone Last week the tender frames made the first leg of their journey to Darlington. The frames were dispatched from Ian Howitt’s works for final gritblasting, preparation&primer. Now complete, the frames are set for delivery to DLW. More at ow.ly/WG0850Smm5O

Today our Team is attending a STEM event onboard HMS Prince of Wales while she is docked in Liverpool. Hundreds of teenagers and young people will be invited aboard for a day celebrating studying/careers harnessing Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM)

On the 2nd of December the Trust hosted a visit from the Darlington Round Table. @darlington_round_table Darlington Round Table is a social club for young men aged 18-45. Every year they raise funds for local charities by organising events.

The first set of tender wheels being set up for high speed balancing. All four sets are on Teesside for this work and will be placed under the tender frames soon after their return.

The tender wheelsets for P2 class No. 2007 Prince of Wales have returned to DLW following balancing at Sulzer in Teesside. We are in an exciting phase for the P2 build project, if you’d like to support this effort please visit a1steam.com/p2donation

Following Timken visiting DLW to fit the roller bearings to the tender wheel sets, the axle boxes have now been fitted by the staff and volunteers. The next step will be to install the wheels into the tender frames before the tank can be lowered on & checked for clearance & fit.
