Wishing everyone a very happy #WorldTurtleDay!!!!! In Grenada we host a significant nesting population of the largest sea #turtle - the #leatherback! These gentle giants can reach almost 1.8 metres length and 900 kg in weight, all from a diet of jellyfish! 📸 Ed Hodges (he/him)

Leatherback turtles can dive 2/3rds of a mile deep, deeper than all but a couple of the larger species of whales. Their softer shell allows them to withstand the pressure of more depth. Learn more about this fascinating species: seaturtleweek.com/leatherback-day #SeaTurtleWeek

Also for anyone travelling to Grenada! Sadly, sale of turtleshell is legal here, but we strongly discourage any purchase of it. Hawksbills are Critically Endangered & you cannot transport turtleshell products internationally without facing fines and prosecution! #TooRareToWear

The #UNOceanConference2022 starts today and we want to remind everyone how critical the ocean is to the health of our planet, producing at least 50% of our oxygen and absorbing 90% of the world's heat. We must #SaveOurOcean if we want to tackle the #ClimateEmergency!
