This has to be the most incredible video ever shot from a Hurricane Hunters flight inside the eye of a Category 5 #Hurricane. Check out this thread of videos from multiple passes inside the eye documenting the “stadium effect” of Hurricane Melissa.

1-minute #GOES19/#GOESEast Visible images showed that soon after making landfall, the eye of Hurricane #Melissa became cloud-filled as the storm interacted with higher terrain on the western edge of Jamaica.

Unfortunately #Melissa is quickly re-organizing after devastating Jamaica earlier today, with the eye popping back out on satellite tonight. Additionally, there’s a new burst of storms around the eye with lots of lightning which is a tell tale sign of a strengthening hurricane.

A deep, cold core upper low is spinning over the Tennessee Valley this afternoon. The cold air aloft is why some small hail has been reported over North Alabama…

Small taste of #Hurricane #MELISSA on SW coast of #Jamaica, just as we started getting raked by violent right eyewall. Belive it or not, this was before the peak conditions, when everything turned white, the screaming sound became unbearable, & we needed to bolt the door shut.

From its formation as a tropical storm in the Caribbean Sea to its dissipation over the North Atlantic Ocean, this satellite imagery showcases the eventful eleven-day journey of Hurricane Melissa.

We've just passed low tide, and winds are still strong out of the north... It's made for an interesting look along the beach today! The wind will relax tonight, and we're still expecting temps at or below freezing. 🥶 @wlox #mswx

Circling the world over the last couple of nights, the aurora borealis put on quite a spectacular show in the sky of the northern hemisphere.

A sudden stratospheric warming event is forecast to peak around Nov. 25. This will probably disrupt the polar vortex, with Arctic air initially plunging into the west-central United States during late November, accentuating the stormy weather pattern headed for this region.
