3:40 AM | Rain is developing south of I-4 this morning. These showers are moving ENE. There may be lightning too. Most of this will stay south of I-4 this morning and will impacts portions of the commute.

5:00 AM | Sct'd rain and storms south of I-4 this morning impacting folks from Bradenton and Sarasota all the way east to Sebring. These will continue most of the morning and will likely drift north closer to Tampa.

RAIN FORECAST | The heaviest rain today is most likely to fall south of the I-4 corridor though some shower activity is possible as far north as Pinellas, Hillsborough and Polk counties through the morning.

FORECAST | Only a couple showers this morning with most starting dry. It'll be warmer today with most of the sct'd storms today happening late in the afternoon and evening. Highs will reach the upper 80s with a heat index in the 90s.

RAIN PLANNER | Most of the rain will pop-up late this afternoon and evening.

TROPICS | Very low chance of seeing something tropical/sub-tropical develop off the coast of the Carolinas this week. Not a concern to Florida as it will move away from us.

7:50 AM | Rain and storms over the Gulf spreading north toward Sarasota county this morning. This will work it's way north along the I-75 corridor all day with additional sct'd storms developing as temps warm to near 80. Bring your rain gear today.

NEW | NHC no longer watching area off the coast of the Carolinas. The low is now likely to develop over land meaning it won't be a tropical system. Nothing to worry about.

9:25 AM | Rain in Manatee county now will spread north across Pinellas and Hillsborough over the next 1-2 hours.

3:15 AM | A cluster of storms over the Gulf is producing lightning as it moves north along the coast near Pinellas County. This cluster will pass close to and could impact coastal Pasco, Hernando and Citrus counties. #flwx

FORECAST | Returning to more typical summer weather today. We'll see highs around 90 with a few pop-ups this afternoon and evening, most of which will happen east of the coast. #flwx

TROPICS | New update from the NHC this morning continues to keep things quiet over the Atlantic basin over the next 7 days. Nothing to worry about.

NEW | Big improvement in the drought monitor this week. The data here only includes rainfall through Tuesday. It does not include yesterday's heavy rains. Even with that, the extreme drought conditions are gone in the Suncoast. #flwx
