Just got my second nostril back after being sick. What a feeling.

Yeah I just went through a mental health crisis and my career was going through big changes and switching it up just felt like a reclamation of control. It’s not a good or bad thing it was just what I needed and I’m grateful to everybody that’s here for whatever.

I hate this trend of biopics and I think she would be absolutely mortified seeing her songs and her story pillaged like this. With that said every time I play Camden we drink in her honor, everyone there that works in music shares stories and the bars all have shrines of her.

I actually wrote apologize before I had released a single song, I wrote it on my roommate’s beat up travel guitar and I could only play two strings at a time so that’s why the riff is so simple. I got a lot of apologizes that never came out as the music got heavier. Apologies.

Two of the songs that radicalized my songwriting were Uncle Sam goddamn by brother Ali and I can’t write left handed by bill withers. Ironically I was just as motivated by making shit about nothing and feeling part of the problem as any particular call to action.

stigmata was cool because we took the main riff and just slowed it down like inception to make the build up riff. Sometimes I find a 3+ syllable rhyme scheme that I get stuck on, and it becomes like a fun puzzle to make sense of. the whole second verse is one 5 syllable sequence

I feel like a festival set can be much more hit and miss, whereas a headline show you know you’ll get that connection and that community…but a great festival set where the crowd all feel together and electric is pretty unbeatable.

all the new music is much much more political. I think this next batch will be that.
