The report identifies that across the 23/24 Premiership season player 21 and under played less than 4% of all minutes played, in the Championship its less than 10%, League 1 is 14.6% and League 2 is 21.5% You would think this would shock the authorities into action!?

I would reckon Celtic and Rangers would be ranked 1 and 2 if based on number of supporters clubs worldwide. Not a bad metric to use given the exposure of the Scottish game versus the English game. They really are astonishing football clubs

Not so much a lack of ambition but a failure to except that until our top teams and those below are awash with homegrown players then nothing changes. However, we keep doing the same thing expecting a different result = insanity (as someone once said!)

In the absence of a League homegrown policy if club's like Celtic mandated their managers to have circa 50% of 1st team squad academy grads then everything changes for the club, the player and the Scottish game

First marathon on Sunday. Took a swing at a 2.55 time, missed by miles. I can say for sure that no amount of long slow runs will get you through the last 10k at your target marathon pace!

Size of the talent pool, rather than size of population, is probably the equalising factor. Scotland systematically give away any 'size' advantage by running a small numbers 'elite' system - spend more on fewer hasn't worked

Scotland's future talent pool is getting smaller. Male births are at an all time low and obesity rates at an all time high (*males births in 2023 - 23,594; 2024 not yet available but predicted to be about the same)

Average annual births in Scotland that produced Scotland's best era versus players still playing today and those who will play in the future
