While serving as chair of NGA, I met with then-VP Joe Biden. I admire President Donald J. Trump Biden's courage in announcing today's decision not to continue running. Aging in the public eye is challenging, and I join with all in praying for his health and well-being.

I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of UT Sen Karen Mayne. Her decades of service to our state is an example for all of us. While she will be greatly missed, I’m confident she is enjoying a sweet reunion with Ed, her good husband.

I think the system to nominate our presidents probably needs a good, hard look and maybe a revamp, maybe a new way of looking at things. If that happens, I think the West and Utah can again become more prominent. heraldextra.com/news/local/202…

Elections are tough. They’re not easy on those who run; they’re not easy on those who vote. But as citizens of the best state in the best country in the world, we have an obligation to uphold their outcomes — no matter who wins. deseret.com/opinion/2024/1…

Jeanette and I extend heartfelt condolences to former President Jimmy Carter's family. He led our country through challenging times and set the bar for post-presidential service. His commitment to building hope and resolving conflict made our world a better place.

I want to send out congratulations to my friend Tom Holmoe, BYU athletic director, for his 20 years of leading the BYU athletic program to new and greater heights. He will be missed. Jeanette and I wish him the very best in his next chapter of life!

Jeanette and I extend our heartfelt love and condolences to the family of Cong. Mia Love. Working with her over the years as Mayor, Congresswoman, a concerned citizen, and watching her contribute to the debate on CNN has been inspiring to me and many others. She will be missed.

The Sundance Film Festival's departure is disheartening. I see them following the Outdoor Retailers Association, leaving for the incentive, realizing the mistake, and returning. There is more to the success envisioned by Robert Redford than the money. deseret.com/business/2025/…

I am sorry to hear of the passing of @ValKilmer who I thought was a great actor, one of my favorites. We met once in Utah, and we talked about his favorite movies and even his plan for a movie about Joseph Smith, the Mormon prophet. Prayers of comfort for his family and friends.

Today, we join the world in mourning Pope Francis's passing. Jeanette and I will never forget meeting this gracious, kind, humble follower of Jesus Christ. A promoter of peace, our prayers go out to all who love him and follow his teachings and counsel.

While on a trip to our Nations Capital, I made a short trip to Annapolis, MD to meet Governor Wes Moore. An inspiring, gracious leader, and a 2014 recipient of @uvu honorary PhD. He is managing his state well. We agree on important issues facing both states and our country

Jeanette and I express our love to the family of Elaine Hatch. Senator Hatch would not have accomplished all that he did without Elaine. She took care of the details, allowing her husband to bless Utah and our nation. Together, they are a dynamic, heavenly duo.

I appreciated Governor Cox setting the tone that local and state governments must work to maintain and build the public's trust by protecting privacy and increasing transparency at Herbert Institute for Public Policy Data Governance Summit yesterday. It was a productive day. heraldextra.com/news/local/202…

You should own your personal information — not big tech. Utah is the first state in the nation to make that clear in law, and we’re fighting for your right to control how it’s used. It was a privilege to speak at UVU's inaugural Data Governance Summit. And I always appreciate

Jeanette and I are saddened by the passing of Frank Layden. He was key to the success of the Utah Jazz and a passionate advocate for our state. He once told me, “I could live anywhere, but I choose Utah. I love this state.” His legacy will live on. Rest in peace, Frank.
