I think from the outside looking in England seems an okay place because guns are banned & healthcare is free* But there is a miserly joylessness and apathy here that permeates everything. You don't get gunned down, but you do endure a slow, lingering death by a thousand cuts.

You have to experience it to understand it. This isn't a culture that values or encourages joy - unless it's getting wasted in the pub. So yes, unlikely that you're going to get gunned down someday, but also unlikely you'll ever escape feeling like an empty husk of a human.
