Following reports of a respiratory outbreak in Christmas group, Dr. Nelson conducted a monitoring visit. #Silverback Christmas had been showing the most persistent symptoms but fortunately he is showing signs of improving! We will keep monitoring him to track his recovery.

Dr. Nelson entered Mgahinga Gorilla NP to check on Nyakagezi group. During the observation period, #silverback Rukundo (pictured) was ranging away from silverbacks Mark + Ndungutse amidst ongoing competition for leadership. All members of the group appeared to be in good health.

On Feb 20, Dr. Fred visited Busingye group in #Bwindi Impenetable NP. This large group comprises of 17 mountain gorillas: 1 #silverback (Mutatina, pictured), 1 blackback, 6 adult females, 3 sub-adult females, and 6 infants. All members of the group appeared to be in good health.

Ruvumu's infant had been monitored for slow growth rate but during last week's health check on Susa group in Rwanda's Volcanoes NP, the infant exhibited good growth and energy levels. Our veterinary team will continue to closely monitor the infant's progress.

Dr. Fred reports that all 7 members of Tindatine group are in good visual health as of their recent health check in Bwindi Impenetrable NP, Uganda! They were ranging close to Bweza group but all members of both groups were calm with no observed interactions at the time.
