There are false statements made by individuals that Alqosh has “Kurdish Christians” so according to them this makes Alqosh “part of Kurdistan” - In reality there isn’t 1 Kurdish inhabitant in Alqosh, not 1 single house, or Kurdish family in Alqosh, only Assyrians live in Alqosh.

A word used daily by Assyrians today is “zūzē”, or “money.” Pl.form. According to the CAL, it’s from Akkadian. The Akkadian word “zuzu” (half-shekel) is attested in Mid. Babylonian and Nuzi. Attested in Neo-Assyrian w/ meaning “gold” in a syn. list from Kalhu/Nimrud. (1/2).

Modern “Arameans” are simply an Assyrian separatist construct. The genetic data speaks for itself, they share no real connection with the ancient Aramean tribes they claim to represent and in fact are closer to ancient Assyrians. Sources below:

Modern Syriac-Arameans are not descended from ancient Arameans of the Levant, but from the ancient Assyrian populations of Upper Mesopotamia. Their claimed Aramean identity stands in clear contradiction to both genetic and historical evidence.

Mor Saliba, a frail old man, attended Christmas liturgy 2 yrs ago. He was practically begged to do Gospel reading. His eyesight long gone by then and it was obvious he wasn't looking at the book, but he recited the whole section verbatim, his hymnody on point despite weak voice.
